Bits and Pieces
Freely distribuable Music-X and MIDI Clips
450 Music-X clips/performances and 450 MIDI clips/performances
to aid MIDI based compositions and arrangements
Collected by Kevan R.Craft and Gareth R.Craft
This directory contains 450 Music-X clips and or 450 MIDI clips which can
be used to aid MIDI based compositions and arrangements. The main `Bits
and Pieces' directories have been configured for both Music-X (MX_BP) on
the Amiga and MIDI (MID_B&P) as standard MIDI file format suitable for all
computer platforms..
The Music-X.perf or performance files are specifically for the Music-X
V1.0, 1.1 and V2.0 sequencer and Notator-X notation software for the Amiga
computer.
The MIDI files or .MID are compatible with any platform from the PC, Atari,
AppleMAC and Amiga which can read standard MIDI files..
Both the Music-X performance and MIDI files come in a variety of shapes and
sizes. Basically, a considerable amount of the files have been produced by
other users world wide and represents their efforts composing and or
arranging MIDI music themselves.
The Music-X and MIDI files come as either, separate 1 - 8 bar clips of a
KOTO instrument intro to anything such as a Polysynth wave riff. Some come
as more than 100 bars of either an instrument or multi part arrangement. In
fact, the contents contained in the Bits and Pieces package represent many
users attempts at saving out their MIDI compositional efforts as clips so
that these may be used in compositions and or arrangements in MIDI
sequencing..
The Bits and Pieces collection contains everything from synth riffs and
solos, harp arpeggios, piano chords and melodies to complex string section
arrangements. In addition, there are brass sections, trumpet riffs, sax
solos, guitar riffs and solos, various acoustic and electric bass guitar
styles and various horn patterns. For those who are into drumming, then
this collection contains a plethora of MIDI drum patterns and sequences in
a vast selection of genre styles. Moreover, if you need percussion and
ethnic instrumentation then you'll discover a wide selection of clips and
sequences here. There's great flute and clarinet arrangements, electric
piano chords and riffs together with many useful clips of literally
hundreds of instruments for most styles of music making..
Indeed, styles are well catered for, from classical to rave and virtually
all the other usual musical styles as well, such as rock, pop, jazz,
ballad, reggae, new age, motown, synth and many more besides reside here
for you to plunder and use!
The Bits and Pieces collection does contain a proportion of the Music-X and
MIDI files which have been set up as General MIDI (GM) but there's a
considerable amount of Music-X and MIDI data included here that is NOT in
GM format! This is not a real problem however, as the Music-X performance
files and the standard MIDI files enables you the user the opportunity of
examining these files for yourself and making any modifications to suit
your own sequencing needs. All you have to do is cut and paste the data
and save your results to disk or harddrive.
Some of the files contain drum parts on both MIDI channels 10 and 16 and
have therefore been doubled-up by the original composer. For those MIDI
drum parts on MIDI channel 16, simply enter that sequence, grab ALL notes
and change the MIDI Channel from 16 to the GM standard MIDI channel 10.
Likewise, some of the remaining instrument parts may have been doubled-up
within a file and will consequently require you to carefully examine this
aspect before loading and playing directly in your sequencer.
There's a considerable amount of fully arranged MIDI songs, instrumentals
and classical scores contained in the Bits and Pieces collection of which,
some are setup as GM standard but again, some have not. Its simply a
matter of examining these before you attempt to play these on your
sequencer. The MIDI data contained within these fully arranged MIDI pieces
can also be used as a source of clips for cutting and pasting within your
own MIDI compositions..
Enjoy...
